big mike's going to see dylan

too bad bob prolly won't play either of these songs, which are my faves of his, first heard on a mixtape uncle johnny bargas made me a decade or more ago when i asked him, "so, john...dylan?!?!?"

i saw bob once, on his "guess which song i'm playing now?" tour, around '79 at the tarrant county convention center. he was the size of the tip of my little finger.

up until recently - i didn't mind the experience of seeing an artist i loved in a ginormadome stadiumplex every once in a blue moon. i figured the goofiness of the venue and the crowding of the crowds was well worth the suffer. seeing bruce last fall changed that since the sound was just about the worst i've ever heard. just one big dull throbbing blur. never, ever again..

the exception being SOME outdoor shows. caught a joint dylan/willie nelson tour a couple summers ago that was outta sight. they only played minor league ballparks and the sound was superb.

a warm june night - some beers, my buddies, and the wife by side as the wind blew over the river and past the lights of the ben frnaklin bridge.. it was pretty special.

willie was superb and bob very decent, but he didn't play either of those tunes.
